Drugs are baaaaaad.....m'kay

So yeah, I was over at Mom and Dad's yesterday. My folks live in the middle of nowhere on a dirt road across from a farm. Something, no matter the time of year, *always* makes my allergies go all berserk. Yesterday was no exception. Mom offered a non-drowsy over-the-counter 12-hour type drug that I hadn't tried before. Some crazy little white pill that, within an hour, made me light-headed and ditsy (or ditsier than usual) and really really sleepy. I am STILL feeling the effects, more than 24 hours later.

Made for a rather interesting day at work however. I was so out of it. I just kept hoping that nothing out of the ordinary would happen. But wouldn't you know, as soon as the more experienced gal went on her break, all hell broke loose. Well okay now that's exaggerating, hell didn't really break loose...hell let out a gremlin in training or two. At one point I was walking around the library (home to those without one) asking everyone if they had a Mercedes. The owner apparently has enough money to cover the Mercedes and a hefty vet bill...he/she'd left their poor pup in the car with the windows closed. Why do people continue to do that? People really aren't that stupid....but it's nicer to think that they're stupid and simply don't know better than to realize they're just cruel and careless.

Anyway...other than that and a couple of other bumps (kids with an infant left unattended at closing - Come to the library! Free babysitting!), work was fine. Better than my previous shift at least, when we had to call the cops because a male patron was enjoying himself a bit too much on the computers.

PSA: Never, ever use the library computers without latex gloves and lots of antibacterial wipes. I'm just saying...
